The best way to solve this problem, is to find out what 1% is first. so if 100% is 150., divide that by 100. (You move the decimal place two spaces to the left. )So 1% of 150 would be 1.5 which is the same thing as $1.50 when you're talking about money. now that you know what 1% is, all you need to do is figure out what 35% is. The easiest way to do this is to multiply your 1% ($1.50) by 35 to get your 35%. When you do this you get $52.50. so you know they spend $52.50 on food each week.
