questions about the heat given off by led lightbulbs
Mason jar lights with led bulbs?
Added 3+ months ago:
Normally mason jar lamps are installed with the jar opening up, and vent holes to allow heat to escape, with the new LED type bulbs, even a 60 watt equivalent bulb can only use a couple of watts, with them requiring so little current, and generating such a small amount of heat, can they be used in a mason jar that's inverted? with the opening down? this would open up a lot of design ideas I had, I would think such a small amount of heat would simply be absorbed by the glass, They have created Edison type bulbs now that contain LED elements, and look like incandescent bulbs, but only use a couple of watts

they have LED type bulbs that are designed for enclosed fixtures but they don't have the look I'm after
sure they do, just not as much as an incandescent bulb, the main heat source is not the bulb itself but the power supply for the LED, I'm concerned it won't be able to dissipate heat effectively and will burn up, of course my other option might be to put just the LEDS themselves in the jar, and use a wall mounted transformer for a power supply
