Looking For A Part-Time Job - Assistance Please?

I LIVE IN THE UK OK.
Now that that's sorted...

My boyfriend and I are looking for a part time job, preferably to work on the weekend, as our college time-tables, and relationships with family means that we cannot work during the average week. We're not looking for any specific vaccancy, but I have some no-no's: phone-related, and none where I'm going to be using my own money to aid me with the job.
Also - Cover letter - what is that, and why might it help me?
And tips for my CV, as I don't have much work experience, and how to "sell" myself?

What about hospitality? Like working front desk in a hotel, bar work, or restaurant work? It may not sound good but it doesn't do badly on a CV later on. I did it myself and got to add "working in a public-facing environment" and "handling money" to my CV.

You have to look at any job as potential for the job you want next. If you take a job that seems bad, play to the strengths of it to get the next job up the ladder.
