So a few weeks ago, a friend of mine discovered he had lice. I'm now afraid that I could have it, but nobody I know knows how to check for it. If I were to end up not having lice, would it harm my head to treat it anyways, just to be safe?

I work at a school and this is actually a common occurrence. Check what is called the Hot Spots: Crown of the head (or the top of the head), behind the ears and at the nape of the neck. These areas are the most common where you will find the eggs and adult ones if you are infested...they are easy to see. The eggs will be close to the scalp, white and attached to the follicle. When you try to pull it off it is VERY difficult, you will know it when you see it. If you are allergic to chemicals, then buy yourself a Comb for flea removal, these combs are specially designed to pull the nits off without having to use chemicals. If you find that you have these you will have to thoroughly vacuum, and wash fabrics. Lots of advice on cleaning your home on the net. Good Luck!
