... first started there I had the same manager and regional manager. (managers name was Kim, regional name was Scott). They were my bosses for 2 and a half years. Now I was a personal trainer so it was my job to train clients tha'ts it. But I would go above and beyond expectations. I knew management paperwork, I would help clean, work 16 hr shifts, and even cover weekend shifts. none of that was required of me. Now finally an opportunity came up to move up to an assistant manager. My manager Kim had to write a review on everyone and if they should be considered to move up. For every employee she said yes to besides me. she told them I was not ready to move up. The person she wanted to promote would cuss me out, show up late, and never did their work pus they had horrible availability. So first question why would she not want someone like me to move up?? Next Kim got fired and our regional manager Scott went to a different franchise so we have a new manager and regional. New managers name is Stephanie and new regionals name is Chloe. Chloe our new regional has known me for a month thats it and she already wants to promote me (so she says). Here is what I dont get. how come scott and kim who both knew me for over 2 years never wanted me to move up in the company but yet this girl whose known me for a month wants to move me up? is she using me like them or does she really see potential in me like she says she does? I want to succeed but im afraid of being taken advantage of...any advice would be appreciated. sorry it was so long thanks for reading it all!

From my experience in the restaurant life I can tell you this:
Some managers/ bosses always talk about working hard but in reality inoticed people skills are 100% more valuable. I also worked my but off, nice to customers and multitasking with taking orders, checking out, making drinks and cleaning the toilet.
While there were other workers who always just chilled ( even when the place was full) but they could talk very smoothly with the managers and bosses so they got raised, and whenever something went wrong i got scolded.
I think or your co workers lived worked there longer than you had, or they were very good friends with her.
Honestly be happy that you got a manager that sees the good in you.
But sometimes managers are just asholes.
