I've been interested in metal forging for a while now. Since I can remember I've been a huge nerd for swords and knights which is kind of what turned me on to it (Although that may sound a bit childish) not to mention I have a huge fascination for fire and hot metal anyway. I recently turned 18 and I think I want to go ahead and make it my profession, the only thing is that it's near impossible to find a good place to learn it. I have no experience in the field besides just what I've learned through research, and the only classes I can find are just week long classes for like 3 hours a day. Is this really an adequate amount of time to learn anything in such a complicated field? No disrespect to anyone who started this way, but if at all possible i'd love to take a full time course to try to cover everything instead of ten different week long classes costing $300 a piece at the lowest. I just don't know where to look. I'm willing to move away from home to accomplish this, I just need to figure out where to go. Are there any full time classes I can take around the US or any colleges that offer courses on Blacksmithing that I can look in to? Thanks in advance!
