...  two or three weeks with no problems , then all of a sudden the belts gets shredded to small pieces

I have the same problem, it is rubbing against the pivot point of the pulley. There is a keeper ring holding the assembly on and it eats into the belt. I am really flustered, I have tried several things and cannot stop it from breaking.
