My landlord is military and wants the option to live in the house again if they are sent back here unexpectedly. So they wrote a 60-day notice for termination into the lease, meaning they can kick us out with 60 days' notice even if we pay rent on time and are otherwise good renters. But per the contract we the tenants are obligated for the full 2-year lease. My question is, would reciprocal rights cover me and allow me the tenant to also simply provide 60 days' notice to terminate the lease? Kind of a quid pro quo--if the landlord is allowed to do it, so is the tenant. The property is in Virginia.

For those of you not interested in reading the full question: can I also break the lease with 60 days' notice, given that the landlord has given himself that right?

I am assuming the landlord owns the house and does not want to rent a house should they return to the same area again?
They are giving you 60 days; that is more than ample time to find another location. I feel that the clause is completely justified. They can terminate at any time.
