My Father aged 60 & former heavy smoker underwent (PTCA) Angioplasty on 22.05.2015 to clear his artery which was blocked 95%. He is also patient of hypertension & Diabetes. After coming home within few days he showed loss of appetite & was not eating properly. After observing few days we took him again to different heart hospital. By the time he had became weak. Upon admission to hospital it was diagnosed that he was suffering from Hypoglycemia for which he was treated. At the same time during lab test it was found that his Cretinine level was 3.13 mg on 01.07.2015 then it became 3.42 on 04.07.215 & urea increased from 25 mg/dl to 33 mg/dl in 3 days. This heart hospital discharged him with advise to see Nephrologist immediately.

We consulted one renowned & experienced nephrologist. Upon our enquiry dr. informed us that since his Blood pressure & sugar has fluctuated rapidly it has harmed his kidneys. Currently he is under medicine (Erythropiotine + other medicines for Heart, BP & Kidney). Dr. has called us in next 5 days & then he will perform new tests and advise accordingly.

Our biggest worry is that he is still “not eating anything properly”. We are afraid that he might again get his sugar level dipped & complications might occur. We are really scared. Please share your views and advise as to what is going to happen? What shall we do? Incase if consulting dr. suggests Dialysis what should we do? I have heard that once dialysis is started it can have some adverse effects as well. Is Dialysis successful? Can this be controlled through medicines? Is it possible to have kidney transplant at this age & with other complications of hypertension & diabetes.

Please help with your valuable suggestions.
