Moved to college after doing AS levels. Did well in one but not so in the other 3. I have chosen to do a full time fast track accounting course which I have been told by the tutors that it is hard and she says most people will probably drop out due to the work involved. However my Mum thinks I should be carrying on with the AS that I did well in to do at A2 but I really don't think I will manage it and she is starting to get really angry and actually starting to just be plain rude to me because of it. I don't know what to say, I really don't want to carry on with the A2 because I would love to have every chance of passing through this accounting course but she really wont be happy if I chose to do this alone.
Just moved to college and my Mum doesn't think I do enough but I can't do more. She wont listen!?

I think she would be even more unhappy if you ended up failing because there is too much to do. Look up what type of jobs are available with this degree and show her what the possibilities are with it. Explain that an accelerated course is much more intensive then a regular course because they pack all of the education into a much shorter time frame then what you would have in a regular course- so you are basically doing a large course in half the time- that means twice as much work not less work but much more. Also consider the other program at a later date- tell her you are considering it but you really need to focus on this now so that you can do well in it. You haven't ruled it out - are you thinking of getting a second degree later but you want to support yourself and have a good job while working towards the other degree?
