Oddly some of my JPEG icon images have been replaced with the same program image. I am a aritist and I really like to see the right image in the thumbnail pic not some useless image that tells me nothing about the contents of the photo. How is this fixed?

Assuming you are talking about Windows, in the upper right corner there are several icons. Click them and see what they do. One is titled "More Options" and you can select what you want to see for files in the folder.
Every program has a menu of menus. The desktop has an icon in lower left called "Start". Click there and select "Control Panel". Click each item to see what options you have. Within some programs, some items have individual menus that come up with a right click. For example you can right click the desk top, select "Screen Resolution" and rotate the image on the monitor when you want to look at tall pictures instead of wide pictures. You don't need to memorize all these things, just be aware that they are in there. Then you can claim to know how to operate a computer at the beginner level.
