I'm a single mother and i've worked as a singer since mid September. My monthly or weekly pay changes depending on how many bookings I get. I spoke to the council and they haven't took any rent from me even though i've filled out a change of circumstances form.
I rang and asked why and they say they need an average amount of pay for 3 months before they can work out my entitlement. As it's changable depending on amount of work, babysitters, illness etc there is no such thing as a 3 months average. Plus they want bank statements when most of my work is cash in hand at the venue. I do have an agent.
I haven't paid any rent since September i'm thinking of cancelling housing benefit claim, council tax etc because it's too much hassle given my changeable job. Does anyone know if I should do this?? If I do does anyone have a rough idea of how much i'd have to pay a week?
With my working tax credit and not paying rent I have £1100 in my bank. Will they be likely to charge me a bill for rent if I cancel my housing benefit. I'm hoping someone who's been in a similar position might know the best thing to do. Citezens advice haven't been much help. Thanks
