I'm a single mother and i've worked as a singer since mid September. My monthly or weekly pay changes depending on how many bookings I get. I spoke to the council and they haven't took any rent from me even though i've filled out a change of circumstances form.
I rang and asked why and they say they need an average amount of pay for 3 months before they can work out my entitlement. As it's changable depending on amount of work, babysitters, illness etc there is no such thing as a 3 months average. Plus they want bank statements when most of my work is cash in hand at the venue. I do have an agent.
I haven't paid any rent since September i'm thinking of cancelling housing benefit claim, council tax etc because it's too much hassle given my changeable job. Does anyone know if I should do this?? If I do does anyone have a rough idea of how much i'd have to pay a week?
With my working tax credit and not paying rent I have £1100 in my bank. Will they be likely to charge me a bill for rent if I cancel my housing benefit. I'm hoping someone who's been in a similar position might know the best thing to do. Citezens advice haven't been much help. Thanks
I've recently become a self employed singer . Should I cancel my housing benefit application?

i would leave it alone because like you say they can't charge till you have a on going amount that you get then you could show them your bank slips because it goes from one date to the next when the money gets put in it the only other way to do it is if you ask for your makings in check then they would beable to figure your credit or ask your clients to give you a print out of what you make this would also help but i wouldn't give it up
Yo Lady try to keep up with your Housing Benefit coz I understand its pretty tough to do so, as you are going through a rough patch, but do not cancel your benefit try to withhold your Benefit as long as you can until the officials try to intervene & ofiicially cancel your Benefit, coz owning your home these days is becoming a difficult task !
Afterall a Home is a home Lady !
