Is whole eye transplant possible in near future ?

I googled this exact question recently. The answer I got was that the eye has a million or so nerve connectors that are brain tissue so a whole eye transplant would require us to know how to do brain transplants, and I dont think were close to that yet. So my uneducated opinion would be: no, we wont be able to do full eye transplants in the near future. We will be able to eventually though, im sure. And technology is advancing quickly as well, im willing to bet we'll have synthetic eyes in the not too distant future.
