Background: I work at a Franchised KFC. Recently i have become very conscience about my weight and over the past 2 months have lost 60 lbs with lots of hard work and dieting.
What is happening: There is a shift manager at KFC that calls himself making jokes with us. He will "joke" with some employees about their children's race, make remarks in a "joking" manor about how he saw them or their mothers on a porn cite or even talk some of the more gullible employees into believing that people are doing things behind their back. Recently this manager has been making comments about my weight, about how much I eat on my break (even though I hardly ever eat during my dinner break), and how over weight I am (I am within normal weight now, but it still bothers me because I know I'm not considered thin and have been struggling with this for a while). I have told him that I find it offensive and that he needs to stop. So now he will wait until I walk away and will say his offensive "joke" to other employees, but they will always tell me because they find him rude and offensive. None of us find the work environment friendly or productive while he is there. We are not sure if this is considered harassment, or if anything can be done, but his attitudes and ethic is not professional and does not promote a good work environment. What can we do about it?
Is this considered workforce harassment?

i would take that as harassment. you told him to stop saying those thing about your weight ect. apparently other employees agree with you. i'd go to human resources and tell them what he's been saying and doing (your manager) managers are suppose to be the ones keeping the employees in check ect. not insulting people.
by the way sixty pounds in just two months is good work. i've only lost about thirty pounds in about four months. i've had weight problems since i was ten.
Yes, definitely it is a case of workplace harassment in my opinion. Your all staff need to complain to that shift manager to the higher management about his dirty jokes and trash talks about the staff members and their families. You must confront him about his bad behavior so he can stop doing this and still if you find it difficult to handle him, you can visit an experienced harassment lawyer like Cummings & Franck, P.C. who can help you with the best legal advice to take legal action against your shift manager.
