At work, I have ran into my director a few times randomly. He seems friendly to everyone but showed me a different side one day. As I went to help an elderly person stand, he grabbed my upper arm and pulled me back. He stepped in and did it. I did not appreciate being grabbed but ignored it. Not long afterward he asked a coworker for my name related to some work. She told him twice. When I approached, he asked me what my name was when he clearly knew who I was. He then asked me for a favor, called me "young lady" and couldn't look me in the eyes. I'm feeling like I'm looked down upon at work and treated as inferior. What is your opinion?
Is this acceptable work behavior?

In response to a comment - as a woman, abuse is very real at work and it's not just "imagining things." Grabbing any employee, help or not, is legally considered battery. Add that to the regular discrimination that women face in the workforce daily and you'll see why this situation is a problem.

Considering he is a man and you are a woman and it involved helping someone stand, just accept it as he was trying to do the gentlemanly thing and help the person and thought you might not have been strong enough and didnt want either of you to fall. In his eagerness to rush to the aid of you both he was a bit too aggressive. Let it go and don't make a big deal out of it.
I see nothing else in your description that indicates anything amiss. Making assumptions with no proof is just looking for problems. Go about your work and stop imagining things. Ask your immediate supervisor how you are doing.
Go ask your immediate supervisor how your work is being viewed.
