Is ps3 are the same?

If you mean the old 40 and 80GB systems are the same as the new PS3 slims yes, technically they are. the only real difference is that the new PS3's have more memory and no HDMI plug-ins, stuff like that. personally I think the old systems are better. the new ones feel like they are made out of an even cheaper material and I've heard that the breaking down problems still happen like before. so the only real advantage the new ones have is that the new have more memory.
