Heres how it went. My friend and I were sprinting in a race. We didn't slow down in time though and smacked into the cement wall of our gym. My out-streched hands (and most of my face XD) hit the wall pretty hard. It hurt immediately after, then I got distracted by running. 15 minutes later when we were changing my wrist started hurting a lot. The pain has dulled a little by now but it still hurts when I move my wrist around. Even now when typing I am typing reaching for keys is getting annoying. When I put pressure on any of my fingers my wrist will hurt. e.g. clicking the laptop's track pad. Sooooo I think it might be sprained, and want someone's opinion.
Is my wrist sprained?

Now my hand is purple and swollen. I know swelling's the norm, but is it ok if it's my hand and it's purple?

Wrist sprain is completely normal to someone who practices any type of sport and it just means that your ligaments are probably swollen. If you broke a bone, trust me that you'd know it. For now, just go out and get yourself a wrist sprain support band from your local pharmacy, be prepared for the wrist to stiffen up and become a little sensitive for the next 48 hours. Let it rest and place no pressure at all on the wrist for a couple of days and then when you're ready take some time to slowly stretch your wrist around, you don't want to suddenly go into full activity with it and go to a basketball game, have somebody pass you the ball and then you're back to square 1 except this time it'll probably hurt more.
It's more likely to a combination of spraining and a pull to a tendon. Either way, it should have been treated with ice to bring the swelling down. Now, the best thing is just not to use the arm until it feels better. If it hurts a lot, a pressure bandage may help and/or painkillers.
Oh, and I hope your face didn't hit the wall too hard. :P
Should I say sprains are normal since I got one too? There are home remedies for sprains. Sprain bandage so as not to allow the joint to move and any ligament to strain. Or you can apply hot compress on it too to reduce the bruise, pain and swelling. Hot compress should enable your muscles to function and not freeze. On the other hand, should you continue to feel pain and discomfort, you should consider visiting a doctor or a chiropractor instead. I remember when I had an injury when I was jogging. I never hesitated to visit a chiropractor from drfryer.ca and got the right treatment. Not to mention, I was also educated on how valuable and precious your bones, joints, and spine are.
Thanks dude.
