Yes, this is quite strange, and im sure that the owner wouldnt be too happy. No resturants play christian music, unless it specifies in that kindof thing. As far as i know, its supposed to be neutral music playing, relatable stuff, like pop music..
I think you could research about it though, just to clarify...
Good luck!
Of course a McDonalds is "allowed" to play Christian music. It is a privately owned business and can do as it likes within the limitations of the laws of the community and the contractual franchise agreement with McDonalds corporation. This is a choice of the management of the business. Likely most patrons are oblivious to the choice, a few are offended to the point of going elsewhere and a few go there specifically because of the music selection. As this is an uncommon policy, it is entirely possible that due to the law of supply and demand the location will benefit more than they are hurt by the choice. Once upon a time before it was the law in most areas, a few individual restaurant chains banned smoking on premises. This was often a major draw for customers as it turned out there was an audience for that policy as well and those drawn to the business outweighed those put off by it.
So - using this thought process a local owner can play totally offensive racist music and that's ok if it sells burger. Hmm. So much for business ethics! McDonalds actually brands itself as be diverse on national commercials - but it's ok not to be diverse at the local level if it sells burger.
