I have a presentation in which I am given a picture and a caption and I am supposed to explain it. Is it wrong to use a sentence in that way? if yes how can I use it correctly?

It is a very tricky question to answer as it has no context, assuming that the picture does what you say, I would write "The text represents the thoughts of the majority of people these days".
If this sounds better to you and more in context then use it, if not don't.
