I like to leave documents, internet pages, etc. open when putting my Mac in sleep mode so I don't have to re-open all of them when I take my computer out of sleep mode. Is this any worse for computer performance (both long and short term) than if I were to close all programs before putting it in sleep mode? Thanks!

It would depend what programs are up. If you have a highly graphic program up then it will hurt it more. But if you have low graphing programs then it won't affect your computer. If you leave your laptop running all day in sleep mode, that is not good for your battery either. It also is better to keep your laptop plugged in while your t home. That way it doesn't hurt your battery over a certain amount of time
