I am a 68 year old male. I suffered a DVT and a PE back in December. I was put on Coumadin for three months, and then switched to Eliquis. I am tolerating it well. I suffer from time to time with muscle and joint pains. The only thing that seems to help is ibuprofen . Some of these pains are transient, and one ibuprofen dose (600 mg) is sufficient. (My Doctor approves of this). Sometimes, I get a longer lasting pain, that is quite severe. In the past, 2 or 3 days of ibuprofen would clear it up. My doctor is wary of this. He prescribed for me Tylenol 3 (Codeine), which only takes away the pain temporarily, rather than acting as an anti inflammatory (like ibuprofen ). I have been suffering with a severe knee pain for six weeks, which is only now getting better. I know that if I could take ibuprofen . it would have been gone long ago. I have looked in vain for info about how dangerous it is to take ibuprofen with Eliquis short term. Is the risk of taking Ibuprofen with Eliquis only theoretical? I would like to know the risk factor evolved, so I can make an educated decision.
