Several years ago, I met my best friend and quickly fell head over heels for her. After 3 years I finally decided to let her know. I had the perfect way to tell her and knew exactly when I was going to do it. A few days before the determined date, I was giving her a ride home when she dropped a massive bomb-shell that destroyed my heart. She was in a relationship. The person she was in a relationship with was another close friend which made it even harder. It has now been several months and I can tell that the relationship most likely won't end soon. We have spent several nights hanging out together as friends and it always hurts to see them. I don't want to lose my best friend but I don't won't to feel this way anymore. I still have not told her how I feel. What should I do?
Is it possible to move on from a person without letting go?

For some people it is possible.
I have to point out that you must not be as close as you thought because you didn't even know she was dating someone let alone in a relationship.
In the future let this be a learning lesson...if you snooze you lose. Waiting around to tell her didn't work.
I see no point in telling her how you feel. You can handle the emotional part by easing your way out of the relationship. You can occasionally have lunch or meet for coffer or join in a group activity but hanging out for more than an hour or several days in a row or as a third wheel is a no-no.
You have other friends hang with them.
