Is there a possibility that gravity can force all life on earth to fall towards a different direction other than a downward motion?

No, because we would still have noticed it happening. Although it would make an awesome film.
By definition "down" is whatever direction gravity pulls. That is affected by the density of nearby materials. For instance a mouuntain pulls gravity off a little bit so that sea level goes up, if there would be a sea there. www.youtube.com/watch?v=q65O3qA0-n4
Here is an interesting analysis, "What if the Earth were a cube?"

As for gravity changing, we don't know anything. The gravitation constant has been checked by a lot of specially trained smart people and they all agree: it is not constant and nobody has any idea why.

If it would have happened, do you think it would be slow for the change to occur?
