Is it ok to use real but no longer exist places in fiction story?

Is it ok to use the following real places in a complete fiction story?
Verseilles, Delphi, Athens, Persia, Crete, Pompeii, Mohenjo-daro, Vaishali, Maratha, Kosala, etc.

I am writing a fiction novel about a central unreal empire, lets call it A, where they have relations with (currently) Verseilles, Persia, Athens, Pompeii and Maratha. The stories do not entirely happen there. They are involved but the main plot happens in A. Is it ok to use history in created fiction?

Yes, sort of. Do not try to write about a place you have never been to. But if you just want to mention someone going to some ancient place, like in a time machine, that's ok. Do your homework and study the actual history so you don't come across as a childish writer.

it is perfectly fine! i have done it before. you can even use places that still do exist. like L.A. i also would like to read the book. it sounds good! just do not be like 'the temple was a dark blue' if it was really white.
