as long as the puppy is eating fully on its own, they have been known to make it. But if you do adopt it get it to a vet asap to make sure it has all of its shots because they are very prone to sickness at this age. and also may have heart worm contracted through the mother which can lead to death. Anyone knows that the puppy should be at least 8 weeks of age before replacing into a new home. So my outlook is this puppy might not have been properly cared for to the best of there ability. Just get it to a vet and make sure it stays healthy. leave soft food out for it all day so it can eat when it wants to. (hard puppy kibble with a touch of can soaked in hott water until it absorbs it) so the puppy can eat it with ease. Have a wonderful time with the new puppy! best of wishes.
There's no harm in adopting a puppy less than 6 months in age. The only thing you should keep in mind is that you have made proper arrangements before you bring him home. Talk to vet and ask what all things are required by your puppy, including food, medicines, accessories, etc. Once you have the list in mind, buy all the puppy stuff from online store like PetCareRx or from a physical pet store nearby.
