I messaged the landlord a few times before we agreed on contract terms. I messaged her on the 13th of November informing her i would like to move on the morning of the 16th, she agreed that this would be fine
I message her on the 15th asking what I needed to pay before moving in, after a couple hours she says she couldn't reply as she was on a plane, she said deposit + rent, I then proceeded to tell her later that day that my mum had paid, I received no reply. On the morning of move in I contacted her asking if 11am that day was fine, no reply. I go to uni which is an hour away from where i live, that afternoon around 1pm I get a message from the guy who showed me the room that I would be renting saying the landlord had informed him that I wanted to move in. The landlord had given me no indication that he would be giving me the keys and no message telling me this, if I had known I would have contacted him to arrange a move in time.
I ask if I could get the keys and he suggests that the next day would be better so we arrange to meet the next day 17th.
I still had not recieved any message from the landlord, until today 29th November when I informed her we would pay 14 days not 15 as she failed to reply to me, around midnight I receive a message from her telling me that I was the one who decided to move in on the 17th and so I would have to pay 15 days.
My question is, is it my fault or hers? If she knew she would be on a plane and could not contact me why did she agree to me moving in, and why would she not inform me that the guy would give me the keys and not him?
In hindsight I should have asked about a move in time earlier but I don't see why I should chase up a landlord who isn't replying and agreed that i could move in on the morning of the 16th
Is it my fault or the landlords?
