I read some articles saying it is legal to jailbreak your iPhone but not your iPad, is this true or not.

if you jailbreak a iphone it means that you take the phone to another provider and have it turned on if its stolen it will come back as stolen that might be you can't bye insurance for it they never let that happen before i guess their getting more lienent with it but if its stolen you can get in trouble
You are correct, jailbreaking an iphone is legal as of 2016, and jailbreaking an ipad is also illegal. jailbreaking tablets becomes a violation of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act on Sunday, October 28.
Though, dont let this discourage you from doing so, in fact im using a jailbroken ipad to answer this question! Its very easy to revert back to your unjailbroken version either 1. by plugging back in your device and reverting back to your previous backup or 2. a cydia tweak out there called Cydia Impactor which automatically saves a list of all your tweaks and then uploads them to its provider's server and next it removes all tweaks and clears the jailbreak history
But I have heard that jailbreaking an iPhone is legal in USA, why would I get in trouble if it is legal. While the iPad I am not so sure and that I am more concerned about.
