Is it legal for my parents to still control my money I earned from my job, if I am 18?

My mother started taking my paychecks to put in the bank for me when I was 16.  Now I am 18, but she hasn't given me my own access to MY money.  Is this legal?

If you are under age or live with your parents, they may take the money you earn. They may not take gifts.

You are 18 and can legally open your own checking account and have your own debit card.  Do it and put your check in the bank before you get home.  That takes care of that problem.
