Is it legal for a school to punish my son for not naming the person who broke a door?

My son was a whiteness to the vandalising of a toilet door in school. He is being threatened by the school with the maximum punishment available to the school if he does not name the boys involved.

This is clearly not fair as he is innocent of any wrongdoing. But is this legal? Thanks

Have you talked with the school authorities? Maybe that will help.

Also: Yes, it's legal, like... it's not like selling drugs or killing a person



But seriously, talk with them, teachers make mistake too, and they are human.

Have you talked to your son and asked him why he doesn't want to name the people who actually vandalized the door?  Maybe he's afraid of retribution?   Once you know the reason, talk with the principal.  If that doesn't  work, take your case to the school board.  It's  worth a try.
