Is it better to be more popular internationally or in Asia?

Is a group considered more popular if they are (KPOP) from Asia and extremely popular internationally (United States, Europe, etc.) or if they are more popular within Asia itself?

I would think that international would be better because that includes Asia. Asia has a population of 4.436 billion. The world population is 7.432 billion. Asia is the most populated continent so being popular there is a good thing (59.69% of the world population).
