If you gave them food, a roof over their head, no physical harm, no yelling or screaming at them, sent them to school, let them have friends and so on, would it be emotionally abuse or scarring to just not love your child? Have no feelings of love for them at all?

Love is when you are aware of a need and you take care of it. Needs are air, water, food, clothing/shelter, and personal attention (that means talking). As the child grows, the mother is responsible to teach him/her social skills (just because only a mother will put up with that job). If the mother does not teach social skills, you have a child with no social skills, a very common situation in some countries. For example, French children are remarkably well developed in social skills, while American children are remarkably inept, and English children are emphatically divided by classes. It has been that way for a long time.
