Is it a good way to meet people using the Internet? What is the advantage or disadvantage?

I guess it depends whether your going to meet that person irl or not. Internet friends can be supporting but you don't know what is behind that screen, it could be a creep etc.
Advantages: supportive, friendly, like-minded (they want to meet someone on the Internet)
Disadvantages: may not be who they pose to be, unsupportive (trolls etc.)
