Yes and no. Nationalism unifies them (mostly Hindus), especially after their independence from the British. In this regard they are united, but several factors stratify their unity. First of all, they have the caste system where people are ranked and it is very rigid and social mobilization is nearly impossible. This divides the Indian people, as they are put in groups, some being better than others. Second of all, India is composed of many villages. There are many languages spoken in India, from Hindi to many others along with local languages. These villages separate the people of India. Because of this their unity is weak, but their national pride brings them together.
