Ex lost a sentimental ring and asked me to look for it. I'm thinking of buying the exact same ring and telling her I found it.

In my opinion, I dont think it its alright. Mostly due to the sentimental value of the item. I dont know if this is good example but: Its like buying a phone for £100 & getting a plastic kids toy. (If you get my drift) so no, try to find the ring, if you cannot find it with her, youre gonna have to settle it between yourselves. Then both of you may agree on buying a new ring, maybe the same one, maybe a different one. (P.S If you bought her a exact copy shell notice its different!) Hope I helped!
