Is honey considered a type of syrup or what group does it fall under?

I would say yes... they are considered the same. Corn syrup, maple syrup, and honey are alike and all are forms of sugar. Difference is honey is completely pure and comes from bees (some dictionaries say other insects as well.). While corn syrup is man made and maple comes from trees and is unrefined or refined (like pancake syrup).
