Currently i'm a college student studying in the welding field. As far as a job is concerned i do see fit, and also have the money to invest for an independent courier position. I'm located in Houston Texas. I have a half-ton truck, and the requirements for this job is that i obtain a TWIC ($139.00), manage my own gas, and the company will pay me 60 percent of each load that i complete. My question is, is this worth the time and money? I have done this before a couple years ago with an auto parts company, and the pay was not good since gas kept eating my paycheck away, but i most indeed enjoyed doing the job. But as i have mentioned earlier i now as of today, I have a lump sum of money to invest for gas, maintenance, i now have a better running truck, and i figured i might be able to pull this job if I just be conservative with my expenses. Bottom line is, I have so much going on outside the workforce that i need the availability, and this job seems to fit that description; and despite the fact that i love to drive my truck and wouldn't mind doing that for a living until i find my way into the welding field, other than working for a call center (which i'm working for now) that has been a living nightmare within the past 2 years, and i am desperate to get out of that line of work. I'm just curious and need to be pointed in the correct direction. I'm all for it if the pay will sustain my living expenses. No sense in going into this line of work if I'm going to making less than what I'm already making now. So whats your perspective?
