Hi! I'm going into eighth grade when school starts again. I've been interested in skipping 8th grade and then my uncle brought it up to my parents. He gave them reasons why it would be a good idea. I get along with people older than me, for starters. All of my friends are already in high school. I don't have many friends in my own age group. I tend to be more mature than my classmates. He also mentioned how I would graduate at a younger age etc.
Because I want to go to high school instead of completing eighth grade year I had the idea of staying a few months, or the first quarter to give myself some time to look at the high school curriculum and make sure I really want to do this. My parents say if I can maintain good grades the quarter I can go to 9th.
If I "skip" this year I'm going to have to leave a lot of school activities. I'm on a volleyball team, an acting program, band, choir (as a soloist) and I occasionally help with student council setups (and year book sometimes, too.) working in school kitchen, other rally and assembly things and help people in language (not necessarily tutoring, and that's my strongest subject) . I'm pretty active with school activities, In my opinion.
Over all I just want to know if it's worth skipping this year. My parents were looking forward to my graduation so they're a little sad about that. But, yeah, thank you for any feedback!!
Is 8th grade worth it?

honestly i think that you should follow what you want to do, don't let anyone tell you what to do. as long as you have good grades and you do good in school then i don't think grades would be a concern although if you enjoy the school activities then it will be hard to let them go but sometimes you need to let go of things just so you can get ahead.
You should definitely skip. Looking back on my own school life, I did not think Junior High was all that important. Basically it was just their for everyone's awkward stage of life. The only reason that I am glad that I didn't skip is that I would have grown apart from my friends there. but since all of your friends are in high school already I say Do It!
