Honestly its all just a matter of personal preference. College English classes and theater classes and the like will typically required/prefer a eleven or twelve point font, but books have been written in all kinds of different fonts, though some more large fonts are typically used in books for children/elders or those with poor eyesight. Everything I write is in twelve point font, it is fully legible, keeping it the right size to fit plenty of words on the page and also still keep it easy to read. I'd say thirteen font if you want it is okay, but fourteen font seems a bit excessive in my opinion, though once again, it's all up to personal preference.
I suggest you not use Times New Roman, I would use Garamond EB or normal, Georgia, or Palatino (Linotype if want) and from those depending on if you want a large print or not any between 11-14, personally I cannot choose one for Palantino, but for Garamond, I would go with 12. If you wish to use Times New Roman, than I would go to 12, unless large print, and than go for 14.
Thanks - I was wondering whether 14 would be too big anyways. I didn't know how to choose between 12 and 14, so I'm settling for 13
