So, today I had an interview at a store that I really want to work at. I was supposed to interview with the president. I came in about 10 minutes early and talked to the woman at the front desk and asked for the president by name. I wait for about 15 minutes and I notice that everyone working there is about my age (I'm 19 and a college sophimore) which is a good sign. She went to the back and came back with a stack of papers for me to fill out- another application...even though I had already submitted one. So, I filled out the papers and gave them back and waited 20 minutes before the same woman came back saying that "-------- (the president) is busy so I will be interviewing you". So, we sit down and it takes about 20-25 minutes. I had prepared well and knew my answers to all the questions but I still couldn't tell if things were going well because it was clear that this woman (who turned out to be a manager) either had never done an interview or had never done one for this position before. She wasn't making eye contact and was too busy writing down what I was saying and reading off a list of questions.
After we finish, I ask my few post interview questions, one of which was can I have the presidents email so that I can follow up and thank her for her time. She said no because "we don't give that for confidentiality purposes and we're still doing interviews this week and will get back to people when we're done."
So, I just wrote my thank you email to the H.R. rep that had scheduled my interview with the president and thanked her for contacting me and asking her to thank the president for taking the time anyways. And of course I put that im still interested and why I'm a good applicant and blah blah blah.
But my question is; was it bad that the president wouldn't meet with me? Does it seem like she really was just too busy or more like I wasn't worth her time (I met all of the qualifications plus some btw)? Did I do anything wrong to make that happen? Or am I just reading into things too deeply? In just really worried because I want to land this job reallllly badl
