Hi,
What are some things to add to food to increase calories for an athlete?
Cheers
Sugar. Oil. Just eat higher calorie whole foods. Try substituting one meal a day for like a value meal at a fast food place, usually high protein, fat, electrolyte. Bonus points if you get whole meat like a burger or chicken tender (though nuggets and patties are still better then nothing). Remember to increase your regular workout routines a little to, to help build muscles.
You need to read some books about nutrition so you know how to eat right. Calories have nothing to do with it. You should be eating about 0.4 gram of complete protein per pound of body weight every day, counting only 6 grams per egg, 12 grams per glass of milk, and 24 grams per quarter pound of meat. Cut down on bread products and added sugar. Eat veggies with every meal to keep your bowel movements regular.
