1) Okonkwo who seeks "masculinity" and wants so badly to be buried with his ancestors committed suicide. The whole book talks about the progression of Okonkwo's success from nothingness. He struggled through life to become a great man in Umuofia, but at the end, he ended his own life and chose to be buried like a dog.
2) "Yes Sah", the "sir" in the line, spoken by one of the Ibo-British messenger was inaccurately spelled. This is to bring out how ironic it is for the Ibo people to believe that the system brought by the Europeans will work for their society. He was submitting to orders without really understanding the real meaning of his action, which he will be remembered by the history as one of the traitors of the village.
3) The white commissioner mentioned that he could write a chapter, or just an entertaining paragraph regarding Okonkwo, but instead, we just finished reading a WHOLE BOOK that describes Okonkwo as a young man, to a father, to a leader of the village. This irony shows how insensitive the imperialists were in 'pacifying' the primitive people.
4) The commissioner's monologue: "toiled to bring civilization to different parts of Africa..." It is ironic how the white is bringing civilization to a culture (Ibo) that is already civilized. The Ibo people has their own laws, societal system, family rules.. etc. And now the imperialist who brought chaos to all these existing rules is claiming to be bringing them civilization?
5) The title of the book "The pacification of the Primitive Tribes of the Lower Niger". the Ibo culture is deemed 'primitive' by the commissioner. However, he doesnt realise that the so-called civilization that was brought to the land was through similarly primitive methods like violence and suppression.
These are some very rough ideas. Hope it helps!
