You have not explained what you are talking about. Media means middles (plural). The singular is medium. Anything can be a medium. If someone paints a picture, the paint is a medium, the canvas is a medium, and the whole process is called a medium. If you take a picture, the camera is a medium, the film or computer file is a medium, and the process of displaying things by photography is a medium. Television is a medium. The internet is a medium. The stage is a medium. All in general are called media.
So what are you talking about?
There is an obvious need for regulation in terms of resource allocation - there is only so much radio bandwidth. Content regulation/censorship has no place in democratic society. There are, of course, exceptions such as a ban of racist content which is based on the law.
