In sliding mesh gear box the output shaft is rotating or not while the clutch is applied?

Question

Disengaged the input shaft)and  car is in moving condition. (If answer is Yes means how the gear shift is happening and there what is the use of clutch)

Answer

The clutch has nothing to do with rotation. If the clutch is engaged, input and output will rotate or not rotate together. If the clutch is disengaged, input and output may or may not rotate, each by itself.
