In Into the Woods how come the Wolf never has a big stomach when he eats Red and Grandma?

He's always seen as still skinny and ripped in almost all adaptions of the play after eating both Red and Granny. Is there a reason for that?

I have never read a literary reason for the stomach to stay the same size. Some things in books, movies, and theatre do not always have a meaning.

This is probably to show just how famished the wolf actually is. His stomach remains the same because he really does not have enough to eat, so his body just absorbs all the nutrients immediately.
