In coaxial cable, Is the shield important or not? Is it enough to connect it's core to receiver?

The shield has its own purpose that is why.. that shield also protects the core to transmit and to avoid discrepancy..

Yes shield is very important for coaxial cable, It helps to protect the wire & transmitted data from the noise. I know a cable manufacturer named peterstechnology which provides better material.
