...  jar, no radiation was counted when outside the glass, so alpha partials probably, and so I unscrewed the jar and touched it&hellip; what s going to happen and I washed my hands with water 1 hr later

Nothing at all. There is no radiactive substance kept in schools that could possibly do any lasting harm to anyone at all. If you had eaten it then that might be a different matter but touching it... no, not an issue. You are probably exposed to more radiation simply from the rocks around your house and a 3 hour flight is equal to having 2 x-rays taken or 2 years of average background radiation. You're safe, don't worry.
