I'm looking for career advice. I'm 33 years old and I've worked in the law enforcement and mental health field for 15 years. About a year ago I restarted my college education and working towards a B.S. in business management. After working with both inmates and civilly committed adults I'm beginning to think I'm getting burnt out. However this is all I've done since I was 18 I really don't know how to do anything else and changing careers in my 30s is kind of terrifying. Right now I make a pretty decent income and I live comfortably so that security is hard to give up. But I do not look forward to going to work and at times I actually dread it. Unlike many states where you work 20-25 years and you're done my state requires us work until we're 65 no matter how many years it may take to retire. I'm trying to figure out what to do after I get my degree completed. I could stay where I'm at and possibly gain a better position and keep my steady income or find something else. The competition in my field to get out of uniform is so hard that we have officers with masters degree and more that can't get out of uniform and stuck working nights, evenings, holidays and weekends. All I know is I want to work in a positive environment. Somewhere people want to be that is non violent and still pays the bills

Why not try something completely different...where you don't have to deal with high stress...a positive environment...an online business that provides something that everyone needs? Clean, delicious, drinking water from carbon block technology filtration systems by a company who is the largest manufacturer of solid activated carbon blocks in the world. SInce 1970, Multipure Corp. is located in Las Vegas, NV and have been rated top pick for under sink water filters by consumer magazines. It's worth a try and the commission rate is the best of any company I know. These systems are NSF-certified to reduce the widest range of contaminants of any other system on the market.
Check them out at www.mosteffectivefilter.com. Only $49.95 to become a distributor. Any doubts? I have been doing this for 20 years and I can assure you it is a real blessing. It continues to supplement our family of my wife and I, and our four young children, (ages 7, 5, 2, and 8 months) Hope this helps and best wishes and blessings.
You are only 33 years old it's not to late to change your career path. It seems like you are taking initiative by going to school but are unsure on the path you want to go. There is obviously something you like about law enforcement and mental health to have stayed so long. What is it? Focus on that. I don't think business management is for you. You mentioned experience with mental health, have you thought about working in health care? You obviously like serving the public if you are in law engorcement. If you already have your prerequisites done you can easily start core classes in nursing, health care administration, radiology, physical therapy, so many options. Don't stay in a job you hate. What is the point? If it doesn't make you happy don't do it.
