... They tore up about a good 4 spots in the apartment. I cleaned up the pee and poop marks as best as I could. The dog smell isn't in there anymore. But should o pay the pet deposit? Will I still get my security deposit?

You might have to shampoo the rug sometimes when someone moves or leaves the apartment their living in they can put new rugs in they can repaint if needed. If the dog did more damage then your the one that will get stuck with the bill it won't do you any good to pay a pet deposit now if the rug is damaged you won't get your security deposit back.
Well if the dog did it you'll be charged for it unless you can prove other wise being its a friends dog i would be talking to your friend about paying for it or at least covering some of the expense.
But what would I say happened to the carpet? There are about 3 good rips and 1 hole.
