I'm active duty Navy and my contract is up September of next year. My first two years I was on Shore

... Duty and my last year I'm on a ship I was told by my career counselor that I had to extend because there is a minimum time I have to be on a ship so they are trying to get me to extend my contract and I was wondering if I had to or are they just trying to get me to rent list for more years?
