Maybe she wanted you to know what she is going through she may have wanted to tell you if you were great friends she may have been reaching out to you wanting to put the negative stuff behind you.

I would say that maybe she just wanted to get back in touch, because it has been so long. If that was the first thing she said to you instead of hey how are you doing then there might be some news.
